Pakistan & U.S Conducts Nationwide Campaign in Support of Peace
With the support of U.S. Mission in Pakistan, members of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) led a week of peace-themed activities for thousands of youth, young professionals, and senior citizens from May 25-31, 2015. From Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the north to Gwadar in the south, the twelve chapters of PUAN organized community service activities that engaged more than 3,000 people in events ranging from interfaith seminars and debating competitions to art and theater programs at orphanages and schools.
"Congratulations to our alumni for their work to improve their community across the country," said Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network Country President Faisal Malik, who led the country-wide project. "With our peace project, we see what's possible when people take the lead as change-makers."
The Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network is one of the largest U.S. alumni networks in the world. It consists of more than 13,000 students and professionals who have participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs.
